Dr. Dingle Spence

Dingle Spence BSc, MBBS, Dip Pall Med, FRCR
Dingle Spence is a Jamaican physician with training in both Clinical Oncology and Palliative
Medicine. She recently retired after 20 years of running the Hope Institute Hospital,
Jamaica’s only dedicated Oncology and Palliative Care unit. Dingle is an Adjunct Lecturer at
the University of the West Indies, Mona, and continues to teach palliative care to medical
students and other health care professionals on a regular basis.
In October 2024, Dingle was awarded an Order of Distinction, a high-level National Honour,
by the Government of Jamaica – for her contribution to the development of oncology and
palliative care services in Jamaica.
Dingle has also trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Homeopathic Medicine, Reiki,
Shamanic Energy Medicine and Psychedelic Facilitation. She has been doing her own
personal work with psychedelics over the past five years which gives her a deeper
understanding of how best to support people having a psychedelic experience. She
currently works as a facilitator with Jamaica Grief Retreats, Beckley Retreats and the
Diaspora Psychedelic Society. Dingle firmly believes in the transformative potential of using
psychedelic medicines in curated and supportive settings and is very engaged in working
with the ceremonial and spiritual aspects of these medicines.
